Hello Wink Turns 5

Hello Wink Turns 5

April marks five years of Hello Wink.

Five years of mixing, pouring, labeling, packing, shipping. Five years of learning through doing. Five years of building something from a pandemic idea into a real, functioning, living brand that exists in the world because I kept showing up for it.

When I look back, it is easy to romanticize the growth. But the truth is, it has also been a crash course in doing almost everything myself, often while balancing a full life outside the business. A one woman show has its magic, but it also has its weight.

There were seasons where I said yes to everything. Yes to custom requests. Yes to ideas that were not quite aligned. Yes to things that looked like opportunity but felt like depletion. And every yes that was not rooted in clarity came with a cost, time, energy, and often my own sense of balance.

One of the biggest shifts in year five has been learning how to say no.

Not from a place of closing doors, but from a place of finally understanding that every yes is a trade. I used to run myself ragged trying to meet everyone elseโ€™s expectations, thinking that was what growth required. But the truth is, sustainable growth required something else entirely, discernment.

If it does not align with the brand, the mission, or my capacity, I let it go. Even if it is hard. Even if it means disappointing someone. Even if past me would have pushed through anyway.

That clarity has changed everything.

Year five has also been about refinement. I have leaned deeply into the core Hello Wink line, the products I know inside and out. I know how they feel, how they behave, how they perform. I know which containers work best, how the labels print, how the orders flow, how everything moves from studio to doorstep.

It is no longer chaos behind the scenes. It runs like clockwork.

And I do not take that lightly.

That kind of operational ease only comes from years of trial, error, adjustment, and stubborn persistence. There were a lot of things I created along the way, lip scrubs and other experimental products, that I genuinely loved, but did not have the time or bandwidth to give my full self to. Letting those go, at least for now, was not failure. It was focus.

And focus has made everything stronger.

Hello Wink today is more intentional than it has ever been. Smaller in some ways, sharper in others, and far more aligned with what I actually want to build long term. I have stopped trying to be everything at once. I have started building what I can sustain.

There is something really powerful about reaching a point where the business stops feeling like it is constantly catching up to you, and instead starts moving with you. Year five feels like that shift.

And underneath all of it is gratitude.

For every person who has supported Hello Wink from the beginning. For every order, every message, every repost, every recommendation. For the people who believed in a small plastic free idea and helped it become something real.

I do not take any of it for granted.

Five years in, I feel less like I am proving something and more like I am refining something that already works. Still evolving, still growing, but steadier now. More rooted. More intentional. More mine.

Thank you for being part of it.
